Brian G. Allen

Brian Allen hails from Milwaukee, WI, and has lived and worked around the United States, Europe, and Latin America. He lives in Seattle in a Homestead Community Land Trust home that he is turning into a model of green building techniques and energy self-sufficiency. In 2006 he founded The Appropriate Technology Group, LLC, a cooperative incubator dedicated to bringing together progressive community-based economists and technologists in the green building, food, energy, health care, telecommunications, and transportation sectors.

His experience in renewable energy and green building began with the design of solar homes in high school and college, leading later to information technology, networking and telecommunications consulting for large corporations around the world during the 1990's. He has served on the boards of The Washington Alliance of Technology Workers, The Green Party of Seattle, and the Green Party of Washington State, among others. He is a life member of the American Solar Energy Society, and manages membership and volunteer needs for Solar Washington.
