What’s Your Innovation?

Did you or someone you know create a new product, or build an innovative residential or commercial project? We want to know how you got a permit to build it.
What’s Your Innovation?

Green Building Innovators - Tell us about your project! Use the 5-minute 'project short form'

Architects and builders, manufacturers of materials and technology, even code officials have been busy innovating the science and practice of green building for decades, and helping codes evolve accordingly.  We know you’re out there!

Did you or someone you know create a new product, or build an innovative residential or commercial project that challenged the code in some way, but ultimately went through and was built?  We want to know how you got a permit to build it.

In many cases we’re talking about an individual element - an unfamiliar “green” building material or space-age technology that had the code officials scratching their heads...  Or perhaps a new energy efficient design, or an old technology applied in a new way.

The Code Innovations Database needs your project!  Please take 5 minutes to fill out the Project Short Form, or use the Mini-Form on the main landing page to Tell Us About It!

About Your Project:

  • It could have been championed by a local green builder or the City Engineer, there are many proud stories of what was considered “impossible” becoming real!
  • Innovations born of necessity are often the most valuable
  • They often come from inventors or manufacturers applying sustainable design principles at every conceivable scale.

What story does your project have to tell?  What can others learn from your mistakes and success?

If your project is selected, our volunteer researchers will do a case study on it, including details of the permitting process, approval requirements, & design specifications, looking the specific innovation and the project overall.

Do Tell.
