Seattle Education Meeting: Indoor Air Quality

The Seattle Chapter's monthly education meeting. Cheri Zehner. This entertaining and informative presentation covers indoor air quality (IAQ) and health effects addressing gasses, volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, and bioaerosols. She covers the fundamentals of building science and tools of the trade to characterize, evaluate and manage indoor air quality. She will address the challenges of creating a “green” building and healthy IAQ. Her presentation graphically describes anecdotes of her 15 years of IAQ investigations.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY

Presenter:  Cheri Zehner, Industrial Hygienist

Cheri's entertaining and informative presentation covers indoor air quality (IAQ) and health effects addressing gasses, volatile organic compounds, particulate matter, and bioaerosols. She covers the fundamentals of building science and tools of the trade to characterize, evaluate and manage indoor air quality. She will address the challenges of creating a “green” building and healthy IAQ. Her presentation graphically describes anecdotes of her 15 years of IAQ investigations.

Cheri Zehner has over 30 years of experience in public health and environmental health programs.  She has been conducting indoor air quality investigations for the past 15 years on commercial, residential and academic buildings. She has performed hundreds of exposure assessmentsaddressing volatile organic compounds, particulate matter and bioaerosols. Additionally, she has worked on US Green Building Council, Leadership inEnergy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects, evaluating air quality in new construction. She has been a lecturer for the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association, EPA Region 10 Indoor Air Quality Program, The Sustainability Foundation, Edmonds Community College Energy Management Program and Master Builders Association.  She holds a master’s degree in Public Health and bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, both from the University of Washington.

Location: Phinney Neighborhood Center - lower brick building, 6532 Phinney Ave N  Seattle, WA 98103. 
From the lower parking lot, go down the stairs into the building, and we're in the left room on the lower level.

Free for members. $10 suggested donation for non-members.

You might have seen this listed as July's meeting, but there was a scheduling mix-up and we ended up doing a round-table. Thanks to all those who participated - we had some great discussion! We're excited that Cheri is able to join us in September.
