Tacoma and Olympia are leaders in sustainability and green building.  Given the Cities' adopted goals for sustainable development, saving energy and curbing greenhouse gas emissions, we know that more needs to be done.

The South Sound Collaborative, Living Future Institute and NW EcoBuilding Guild have an incredible opportunity right now to leverage significant partnerships for local municipalities with the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) and the MEETS Coalition to help develop new incentives and a stronger business case for green buildings (residential and commercial).
To that end, we have planned a workshop at Tacoma Power next month:
High-Performance Partnerships: Incentives that Accelerate Green Building
Thursday June 22 (8:00 am – 12:00 noon)
Tacoma Power Conference Room, 3628 S. 35th St. Tacoma
With:
Matthew Christie and Neil Grigsby, NEEA
Rob Harmon, MEETs Coalition
Hosted by Bruce Carter, Tacoma Power
Moderated by Chris van Daalen, NW EcoBuilding Guild and ILFI South Sound Collaborative
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.  We will explore successful incentive models and partnership structures that could be adapted to help meet the Buildings and Energy component of Tacoma’s Environmental Action Plan.  We have confirmed participants from the both the Tacoma Building Department and Planning Department.
Meanwhile, check out the recent report from NEEA:  Guide to Home Certification - Government Partnerships.
