Communicate! Tools to Sharpen Your Edge

Expand your presence and others’ knowledge through video, audio, and slideshow techniques. Market your skills, yourself, your project, or create an educational series. Learn to be a part of the viral generation and get out there!

• Cate will address creating simple videos to help you showcase your green building skills.  Whether you post the videos on You-Tube for worldwide viewing or on your own website, videos help to communicate so much more than other mediums.  You can use video to illustrate a technique, demonstrate an installation method, or showcase your project.  You can also use videos as part of a webinar or pod-cast.  Cate will introduce development strategies, software, and editing techniques to maximize the communication potential of your videos.  She will also introduce the basics of expanding your outreach to include webinars and podcasts. 
•  Terry will discuss using audio communication through radio broadcasts and podcasting to reach a wider audience. You can use this media form to contribute to exponential change through a combination of monologue, guest interviews, and addressing audience questions. Terry will cover both live and produced techniques, and the basic tools and strategies to deliver a professional program that will create a following.
• Pete will address creating a PowerPoint presentation to hold your audience’s attention and get your message delivered and remembered. Al Gore got an Academy Award and the Nobel Peace Prize for his PowerPoint.  Your mileage may vary, but you CAN use some of the same communication principles to sharpen up your presentations.  Pete will share some dos and don’ts, tips and techniques to make effective use of this ubiquitous technology.
