The Eco Modern Farmhouse (or Valley Farm House) is designed to be zero net energy and carbon neutral to operate.  Achieving 5-Star Built Green and LEED for Homes Gold level certification, this home was the first residence certified through the LEED rating system west of Seattle.  For more information about features: http://www.builtgreen.net/studies/1333.html.

The Rolling Bay Cottages are a pair of innovative energy efficient homes, with an expected completion date of late July 2011. These demonstration homes will meet 5-Star Built Green, as well as the U.S. Department of Energy’s Builders Challenge.  Featuring double insulation (including blown-in sheep’s wool), an HRV and Mini-Split Ductless heat pump, home energy dashboard, Energy Star lighting, rain gardens and cisterns – these homes have been built to use 50% less energy than standard homes.  http://rollingbaylandco.com/hh_cottage.htm.

Russ’ talk will focus on each of these projects, with discussion about lessons learned to apply moving forward.
