Forming a New Chapter Instructions

Step by step instructions for forming a new Northwest EcoBuilding Guild Chapter in your area.

Once you have reviewed the online documentation we have provided, its time to get the process started!

Step 1: Contact the President of the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild about your intentions to form a new chapter.

Step 2: Establish the regional boundaries and name for your new Chapter.

Step 3: Establish an enthusiastic & energetic organizing committee to assist you in forming this new chapter, and running an initial membership drive. Contact the Guild's Membership Administrator for a list of current Guild members in your region.

Step 4: Attend the next Guild Board of Directors meeting, and a Chapter Steering Committee meeting to learn more about the Guild and how its Chapters operate.

Step 5: Use your organizing committee to prepare Chapter bylaws using the Chapter Bylaws Template.

Step 6: Request Guild Membership forms and printed Green Pages from Regional Communications/Marketing Chair.

Step 7: Use your organizing committee to orchestrate an initial membership drive of other Guild members and non-members in your local area.

Step 8: Conduct an election in which your original local chapter members select a Chapter Steering Committee (minimum of President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) in accordance with your proposed bylaws.

Step 9: Send the proposed Chapter Bylaws signed by all 8 members, a roster of Chapter Officers and committees, and a list of initial membership to the Guild President.

Step 10: The Board of Directors will review this information and respond by sending you a letter of recognition, and an incentive grant.
