1. Adaptive re-use of existing commercial buildings
2. High-performance residential new construction
3. Residential remodels/additions that include envelope and systems upgrades

JOB DESCRIPTION

SHED is looking for a talented and motivated designer/architect. This person will work closely with principals and teams to design and manage projects from Pre-Design through Contract Administration. This person will have proven their ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and is responsible for:

>Project Management and client/contractor communication
>Overseeing small teams on adaptive re-use projects
>Design and Production
>Permit and construction documents
>Presentation drawings, including renderings

Strong candidates will:

>be licensed in the state of Washington;
>have 5 -- 10 year's experience in the field of architecture, specifically in commercial and residential;
>have knowledge of sustainable design principles and practices including Passive House, Built Green and LEED; LEED Certification a plus;
>have a big picture understanding of the permitting process including communicating with local departments and overseeing the preparation of accurate permit and construction sets;
>have a solid understanding of construction assemblies, material properties, etc ;
>have a portfolio that demonstrates outstanding design skills and dedication to design process;
>be proficient in BIM software, Sketchup/Rhino, Archicad, Revit, and Adobe software, or be a proven quick study.
>demonstrate excellent interpersonal and listening skills
>communicate effectively verbally, graphically and in writing; present design ideas clearly and with confidence;
>excel at researching and resolving technical issues.
