Architectural Drafter/Associate Designer (Seattle)

Who we are looking for:

Green Canopy Homes is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Architectural Drafter. The right candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • AutoCAD (2d) & SketchUp (3d) experience required
  • Revit experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel
  • Must have drafting experience in residential construction
  • Architectural/Drafting degree preferred
  • Ability to work independently
  • Dedicated to the success of the team, including self, peers and superiors
  • Must work effectively within a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organization and clear communication skills


Position Summary

The Architectural Drafter prepares detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to specifications provided by Architect. The Architectural Drafter reports to the Entitlement and Design Team Manager, and will provide additional support as requested. This position is not entirely limited to the responsibilities within this job posting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Produce permit sets for submittal to the City/jurisdiction using CAD and/or Revit.
  • Assist Architect in development of building designs based on preliminary concepts.
  • Analyze building codes, land use codes, space and site requirements, and other technical documents to determine their effect on architectural designs.
  • Coordinate designs and drawings with specified consultants' drawings.
  • Complete submittal forms as required by the City for intake.
  • Build exterior and interior architectural models on Sketchup or other 3d programs.
  • Assist in drawing conceptual site plans, floor plans, massing models, etc during feasibility.
  • Maintain construction detail library in line with current with Green Canopy standards and best practices.
  • Material specification selection for specific projects
    • Specify materials appropriate to specific projects and budgets
    • Select samples, including flooring, carpet, tile, cabinetry and paint
  • Choose interior paint colors and create palette options for exterior color vote
  • Create interior design details, elevations, and 3D renderings using AutoCad and Sketchup
  • Assist Design Manager with architectural details as needed
  • Use Bluebeam to create supplementary drawings for the Specifications, including but not limited to electrical & flooring plans
  • Collaborate with Estimating Team on budget
  • Collaborate with Sales Team to keep designs within buyer expectation
  • Work with Project Managers when issues arise with spec'd products


The details:

This is a non-exempt, full time position, working from our office in Seattle. Occasional travel to project sites, local jurisdiction offices and special events may be required. Compensation for this position is dependent on experience. Competitive benefits package included.
