Job Description

Batt + Lear is a family-run Seattle business that has been dedicated to designing and building green since 1999. We build and remodel structures to be highly energy-efficient, simple, and functional. Our office is located just south of downtown, though we deliver projects across the Greater Seattle region.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Skilled Carpenter with extensive experience (min 5 years) in custom residential new and remodel construction. Ideal candidate has worked on projects that have achieved one or more green building certifications in the process (LEED, Built Green, Energy Star, Passive House, Living Building Challenge).

Skilled Carpenter to have the following qualities and experience:
Journeyman level understanding of residential construction
Must be able to read and understand all aspects of building plans, including architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications and schedules
Ability to perform field carpentry to B+L standards
Conversant in all matters of on-site Health and Safety
Ability to lead a crew of carpenters and carpenter's assistants for a specific objective
Basic take offs
Communication with Superintendent about material needs in advance of needs
Responsibilities are 100% belt on, lead by example.
General field carpentry without supervision (concrete forms, framing, window and door installs, interior and exterior trim, siding, thermal and moisture protection, cabinet installs, basic GWB, basic ducting, tile, paint,)
Ability to safely use power tools.
Compensation: Up to $30 per hour DOE + bonuses. Benefits include: PTO, Medical, 401K, + Education stipend
