polarbear_logo.pngThe GRuB Garden Raised Bounty Farmhouse is a “Community Center” built to 5 Star Built Green Residential Standards. The GRuB organization has been on this 3+ acre property since 1996.  The building was designed to help meet the administrative and educational outreach goals of the GRuB Program.  Garden Raised Bounty provides many services to our local community including The Kitchen Garden Project which has given over 2,000 gardens to low / no-income families in the greater South Sound area since 1993, The Cultivating Youth Program farming self, land, and community, Youth Employment Opportunities, Educational Activities, as well as providing 1000’s of pounds of fresh vegetables to the Food Bank and low income households.  For more information see:  www.goodgrub.org

GRUB rearThe Farm House was designed by Lucid 9 Design, Lisa Diane, and built by Polar Bear Construction, Barrett Burr. The project was completed through generous volunteer efforts and charitable contributions.  One of the GRuB organization’s goals was to create a building that demonstrates sustainable and energy efficient Green Building products and systems to the community.

Polar Bear Construction is a small company that has been building custom homes and providing services for residential remodels and additions since 1987.  For the past 20 + years, one of our main goals has been to offer customers opportunities to incorporate “Green Building” technologies and materials into their projects.  In the 1980’s it was called “energy efficient construction”, in the 1990s “healthy home design”.  Now, it is called “green building” or “sustainable design”.    Polar Bear Construction listens to our customers and works to understand their design.  We strive to stay educated regarding new construction technology and bring these ideas to our customers.  In the end, Polar Bear Construction creates a project that is good for the customer, good for the company, and good for the place we all live.  www.polarbearconstruction.com
