Programs & Outreach
Technical Flash Cards Library
Now under active development, this open source library of green building technical flash cards will provide best construction practices FREE to contractors, subcontractors, and the DIY person to ensure a better resource and energy efficient future.
Sustainable Field Training Initiative
A dynamic, collaborative partnership between Northwest EcoBuilding Guild and South Seattle Community College is bringing this exciting new program to our community. Your support will enable us to continue the ongoing development of a training course for multiple construction trades on sustainable construction best practices.
20/20 Home Refit Challenge
The Guild has partnered with Built Green King/Snohomish, Home Performance WA, and Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union to challenge the Puget Sound community to retrofit 20,000 homes by 2020. This critical challenge represents our greatest opportunity to save resources and improve energy performance by at least 20% (test in - test out) in existing homes.
Local Chapter Green Tours
Green and growing, these annual tours are now being organized locally by multiple Chapters. Our Green Tours offer an opportunity for the public to see “green” in action! Skilled guides engage tours visitors in learning: increasing our visibility and forwarding our mission. This is chapter activity at its best.
10x10x10 Green Building Showcase
These annual Chapter-sponsored awards and recognition events brand our organization and continue to build public awareness of green building opportunities. Showcasing pioneering projects is a worthy tradition and is a highly prized form of outreach for more than just design and building professionals.
Recycled Products Summits
Ready to be replicated, in 2011 the Guild launched the Glass Aggregate Summit. Spearheaded in Thurston County, this first of its kind summit educated permit officers and construction professionals across Washington State on how glass aggregate can be used by the construction trades and established a formula for future events.
Mother Earth News Sustainability Fair
In 2011 internationally recognized Mother Earth News hosted their first sustainability fair in Washington State. The Guild stepped up to make this one of our largest public education outreach efforts yet, including a wide variety of speakers and hands-on workshops. We plan to remain deeply involved with this annual event at a regional level for many years to come.
