City Cabins®

Imagine the ability to easily live a lifestyle that is one planet or less, to feel glad to be part of the solution in cleaning up Puget Sound, and to declare an end to fuel choices that cause environmental harm. City Cabins® at Columbia Station offer a housing choice that makes this possible!

Located in the New Rainier Vista, just blocks from the light rail station, one can actually forgo driving to many destinations. Electric car charging capability and solar collectors make city commuting carbon free. All-electric homes allow for clean renewable fuels to provide the energy.Martha Rose City Cabins

At home, forget worrying about the thermostat. So much insulation is installed that heating and cooling is a breeze. Everyday activities will keep the winter chill away and just a few opened windows will cool all summer.

Roof mounted solar panels, coupled with LED lights and induction cooking make the ideal of net- zero within reach. In the end, a mindful approach to electrical consumption added to our construction innovations determines the bottom line for electricity use.

A healthy indoor environment includes pure filtered fresh air in the home 24/7 provided by a high efficiency FanTech 3005R heat recovery ventilator (HRV) installed in each of the new City Cabin homes. The HRV provides the homeowners with five air changes daily filtering incoming outdoor air quietly and efficiently. This is great for people with allergies - a real game changer.

Our simple cabins use pure ingredients, sourced close to home and are intended to make living comfortable and easy. We use design and materials that make sense from a regional standpoint. Our homes are suitable for all ages and physical capabilities with on-grade entries, wider stairs, and future lift wiring, wider doorways and bath features. Flexible floor plans adapt to accommodate many lifestyles.

Know that you are living with less environmental impact both indoors and out. The vegetated garage roofs retain at least half of the rainwater that falls on the roofs. The rest is collected in a 100 gallon rain cistern to be used to water plants in the garden. What water is discharged goes into the ground to be filtered and infiltrated. The driveway aprons and walkways are pervious concrete allowing storm water to filter through and absorb into the ground.

BG_v_logoThe 5-Star Built Green City Cabins® offer a wide range of sustainable choices and benefits and are located within a vibrant walk-able community with parks and views of Mt. Rainier. We will be open April 27 as part of the Green Home Tour.
