SUMMARY

The Role – Project Engineer will report to the Project Manager

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Submittal process
  • Manage the RFI process
  • Maintain up to date Drawings & Specifications
  • Attend project meetings and generate meeting minutes
  • Pursue Change Order pricing
  • Assemble Operation & Maintenance manuals

 

Assist Project Manager and/or Superintendent with the following:

  • Communicating with design team, subcontractors, and owners
  • Reviewing Drawings & Specifications for constructability.
  • Project planning and resource allocation
  • Preparing budgets and estimates
  • Writing contracts
  • Tracking costs
  • Scheduling
  • Managing the Site Safety Program and associated documentation
  • Obtaining municipal permits and payment of fees
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Perform or assist in:   

  • Maintaining up-to-date records and logs (including, but not limited to plan sets, drawing changes, contracts, contact info, etc.)
  • Completing request for proposals and bid packages, review proposals
  • Take offs and estimating
  • Developing and/or following a six week look ahead schedule, use to anticipate work orders, supplies, and long lead time orders needed
  • Site visits, document project progress with photos
  • Monitor jobsite safety practices and set project appropriate policies
  • Obtain & post permits as needed for project
  • Participating in subcontractor and owner meetings
  • Preparing and archiving meeting minutes
  • Prepare, review and maintain appropriate project documents (RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, work orders, change orders, etc.)
  • Project punch list creation & follow-thru
  • Preparation and delivery of project certifications (i.e. Passive House, Built Green, etc.), close out and owner’s manuals
  • Other duties as assigned

 

JOB SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Computer knowledge and efficiency with Microsoft Office required, Bluebeam, estimating tools such as On-Screen Takeoff a plus
  • ProCore project management tool extensive use
  • Thorough understanding of industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good math/accounting skills
  • Mind for construction concepts and ability to remember details
  • Functions effectively as part of a team
  • Dependability
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong decision making/problem solving skills
  • Ability to read and analyze architectural drawings and specifications
  • Degree in Construction Management preferred, or 3 years of related work experience coupled with a Bachelor’s Degree
